My Angel Journey

My Angel Journey

Someone once suggested that I was a Wisdom Keeper. When I asked what that meant, they simply said I would understand in time. That was a LONG time ago and I’ve finally come to realize what it means. I like to learn new things and about people and places. But it’s more than that. I like to share this information with others … pass it on, if you will, so that it’s not lost.

And it seems like I’m interested in EVERYTHING and always want to know more. So, my journey has been taking place all my life. I am an avid reader of metaphysical non-fiction and thoroughly enjoy all the things we can now learn online through a variety of excellent resources (and the list grows daily). I have found some fantastic mentors and coaches along the way who have been a wealth of information about connecting with the sacred or divine.

I remember spending the night with my grandma as a little girl. Every night, we said a prayer asking my Guardian Angel to watch over me. Grandma left the earth plane when I was about 8 years old and the rest of my family never really talked about angels.

Many many years passed and I hadn’t really thought much about angels.  But the angels wanted me to remember them …

I was over 50, recently divorced, and I had just been laid off from my job. There were other things going on with my kids, but we’ll not get into that. It was a pretty dark and dismal time for me as the job market where I live was almost non-existent even for someone with 25+ years of office management experience. I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it on my little bit of unemployment every week.

I was at the “exit” doors of WalMart waiting for a pouring rain to let up enough for me to make it to the car without getting soaked. There were a couple of others waiting for the same reason. One of them was a very tall, attractive blonde lady with beautiful blue eyes and a cart full of groceries. We made a tiny bit of small talk about the rain and continued to wait in silence. The rain let up just a bit and she decided to “run for it”. As she was getting ready to leave the store, she looked at me, smiled, and said “You know God loves you a great deal.” I was completely caught off guard but managed to stammer a “Thank you” as I watched her leave. Less than 30 seconds later, I walked out the door as well. I wanted to find her and tell her that her words had provided the comfort and reassurance I desperately needed at that moment in time … but she was NOWHERE to be found.

Remember, I said this was a TALL lady with a FULL cart of groceries. There was no way she could have gotten to her car, loaded it with the groceries, and be gone. There is also no way the cars would have obstructed my view of this very tall woman.  I looked over the whole parking lot; but she had literally “disappeared”.  It took me a couple of minutes; and then I suddenly realized that she was an angel.

Her comforting words didn’t change my situation, but they did change my perception; and I became much more optimistic about things.  Shortly after this incident, I was having trouble sleeping and started to recall the prayer my grandma had taught me. Maybe you know it:

Angel Prayer

Angel of God, my guardian dear
To whom God’s love, commits me here
Ever this night, be at my side
To light, to guard, to rule, and guide.

I started to say it every night. And if I woke up in the middle of the night, I’d say it again. This went on for a couple of years and I felt more of an angelic presence in my life and it was peaceful, calm, reassuring.

A few years ago I heard about a course exploring the concept of fairies.  I signed up for the class and became active on the Facebook group.  The course included a little information about angels also and my interest grew once again.  It was only “then” that I started reading books about angels. To say a light went on is an understatement!  Soooooo many things now made sense. That’s when I knew more people just had to know about Angels and other guardian spirits.
