Creating Blessings

I’ve got Christmas music coming through the TV from a DISH channel. Now all I need is a fireplace and a winter wonderland to look at out my window. Note … I don’t want to shovel the snow, just look at it 🙂

Christmas will be here in just a few days, and I have no clue where the last year has gone. Much has happened and time seems to have flown by.

Despite a great deal of uncertainty about the future, I have a peace about my life that I didn’t know would ever exist. This is, in part, thanks to the great guy in my life … but also because I’ve needed to rely on the Creator of the universe for provision for most of the year and more than ever know that we are in the right place at the right time. It may not always look like it and we may find ourselves questioning this belief during tough times – divorce, unemployment, loss of friends/family, illness. I am continually amazed at the way things come together when we practice heartfelt gratitude and seek the positives in life rather than always seeing and being negative.

Our words have such tremendous power to bring something to pass in our lives. I hear so many people speaking curses over their lives and the lives of the people around them simply because they continually speak negatively. We give value and significance to everything we say. So, just what are we saying? I had a discussion with a co-worker the other day about spells and incantations. I’m not so sure they work for any reason other than the fact that they were spoken with intention. We can create a blessing in another’s life with our words and the opposite is also true. If the power of life and death is in the tongue, what words are coming from the heart of the person speaking those words?

Although there is more stress during the holidays, most folks have a lighter, more generous spirit about them. We can choose to carry this kind, tender spirit with us every day of the year. What will you do and say in the coming year that will bless or curse someone? Declare today to be more watchful over spoken words, not only for the next few days but rather for weeks, months, and years to follow.

What difference will you make in the lives of those around you – family, friends, co-workers, even the person in line at the store? And let’s put a watchman on guard over our thoughts as well … for thoughts precede words which precede actions and our actions create our lifestyle and character. What are you saying about yourself and others when you speak?
