Time to “Let It Go”

Sometimes letting go of things that no longer serve our highest interest is easier said than done.  Those pesky thoughts keep coming back and are often at conflict with the new thoughts and beliefs we want to bring forth.  Maintaining balanced thought processes and healthy relationships can be a real challenge.  Despite our best efforts, it just seems like we are in a pit of quicksand that those old thought patterns are slowly sucking us in and holding on tight.  Just when we think we’re about to break free, we lose our grip on the life rope or low hanging branch and are stuck again.

When all else failed, I turned to traditional medicine for my extreme anxiety.  But I knew I wanted it to be temporary … you know how the ER stabilizes you to move to the next step … that’s what I wanted my traditional medication to be … something to give me a little relief on my way to recovery.  I needed a break … and I needed some sleep (it had been decades since I’d had a GOOD night’s sleep and I knew it wasn’t healthy for me to go on that way).  After a few months of stability, I was ready to get serious about an essential oil blend that would really address all the pieces of my anxiety and insomnia.  After quite a bit of research, I came across a couple of blends that I combined and tweaked just a bit and came up with a blend that I’ve shared with a few folks.  It smells great and is really relaxing and allows a sense of peace and calm to easily settle in.  I’ve started using it in my diffuser at work as well as at home in the evening.

The grounding and calming essential oils help dispel depression, anger and grief.  It helps release buried emotional trauma and helps restore energy, confidence and calms the nerves.  It’s a great oil to try for PTSD – the oils for this blend work together to help release negative emotions, frustration, and anxieties and allow you to focus your thoughts so you function more effectively.  When worrisome thoughts won’t leave you alone … inhale, relax and let them go.

EOs in my blend: Frankincense, Geranium, Myrrh, Helichrysum, Lavender, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Ho Wood (I love just a little dab of Ho Wood in almost everything … it’s one of my favorites).

If you’ve tried EOs to “let go” or for “peace and calming” … let me know what worked for you.
